Mommy Moments - Look At The Mess
It is not a tradition in our house to celebrate my daughter's month day. On her ninth month, I don't know what entered to my mind, but I bought my daughter a half-roll Ube cake. So this is the result. A really mess! But a cute one, isn't?

Restaurant City Is Under Maintenance Again - Updated
Just last Tuesday, July 28, 2009, Playfish, developer of Restaurant City, conducted a maintenance update. Now, there is another maintenance :( The last update took quite long that many players already posted their impatience on Playfish's site. Two maintenance in a week, Hmm... that is something.
Were they not able to finish their update last time or they really need to patch some defects? Whatever the reason maybe, many players will be disappointed for sure. I hope the updates today will not be very long.
UPDATED:
I realized that not only the Restaurant City is down, but all Playfish's games including Word Challenge and Who Has the Biggest Brain. Sad :(

Proverbs 22:6
This is a constant reminder to me as a mom that while my child is still young, I should already train or raise her the way I should want her to be in the future. And being aware of my imperfections, faults, and limitations, I cease not to pray that God will fill-in my short-comings as a mother and that He help me and guide me to be a mother that He wants me to be.
Don't want your child to go astray? Now is the perfect time to train him/her.
Have a blessed Wednesday.

An Unusual Monday
When I woke up this morning, (I woke up a little bit late) I heard the voices of the kids in the neighborhood. They were already playing. Hmmm, very unusual because today is Monday and supposedly, they already off to school by that time.
I started preparing for office because Monday and Thursday are the usual days I report to office. After saying goodbye to my hubby and getting so many kisses from my little darling, I headed to the bus stop where I usually wait for the bus going to MRT Station, North Edsa. By that I time, the buses are usually fully loaded with passengers and the passengers can even exchange faces because their nearness to each other. But today, I was still able to get a seat and no one is standing on the aisle of the the bus. There were even some few vacant seats.
I rode off the bus at MRT North Avenue Station to transfer to an FX going to Ortigas. When I got to the FX terminal the usual long line of commuters was no where to found. Instead of commuters, few FXs were lined up waiting for passengers. Big deal for me because I don't need to line up and get all the smell of the food being sold in the terminal before I get my turn to ride on the FX.
And finally, the most unusual thing this morning was that EDSA was not congested with vehicles and my travel from North Avenue to Ortigas was very fast, so fast that I was not able to get a nap during my trip,LOL!
Very unusual but a blessed Monday! I seldom experience this kind of Monday. Thanks to SONA and heavy rain yesterday because some classes were suspended today. This was the reason why my Monday was not a panic and rushing Monday.

Then Sings My Soul Saturdays - No One Ever Cared for Me Like Jesus
This is my first time to join this weekly meme and my sincere desire is for you to be blessed by the message of the song just like how it's blessing to me.
The song I am sharing is entitled "No One Ever Cared for Me Like Jesus"
The songs reminded me that God's love for me is the greatest love and the way He cared for me is incomparable. No one will ever care for me just the way He cared me.
I would love to tell you what I think of Jesus
Since I found in Him a friend so strong and true;
I would tell you how He chang'd my life completely
He did something that no other friend could do.
Refrain:
No one ever cared for me like Jesus,
There's no other friend so kind as He;
No one else could take the sin and darkness from me
O how much He cared for me!
All my life was full of sin when Jesus found me,
All my heart was full of misery and woe;
Jesus placed His strong and loving arms around me,
And He led me in the way I ought to go.
Ev'ry day He comes to me with new assurance,
More and more I understand His words of love;
But I'll never know just why He came to save me,
Till some day I see His blessed face above.
To God Be the Glory!

Mommy Moments - First Steps
Today's Mommy Moment's theme is First Steps. Unfortunately, I was not able to capture my daughter's first steps because the first time she walked by her own was during unexpected time.
Like what I frequently mentioned in this blog, my daughter was a bit late when she started walking. This maybe attributed to the fact that she was not an active baby. She's been sleeping most of the time during the first year of her life. And I think she was traumatized when my husband was trying to let her stand alone. This may also caused her delayed walking.
The first time she walked was in church. She herself didn't realized that she can already walked. She was trying to run after another baby in our church while I was holding her at the back through her sleeveless jacket. While she was running after the baby, I would let her run alone without her noticing that I already freed her up. I was really surprised that she can already walk by herself but once she realized that I no longer hold her, she would sit down and would just crawl. She was already one year and four months that time.
After few months more, she's more confident to walk by herself and now she can endure to walk farther distances.

She was only six months when she started to use her walker, but not for so long because our helper broke it without telling us. When Ska used it again, she was hurt and since then, she no longer want to use her walker.
Her crib helped her exercised her legs and knees. She can walk inside the playpen while holding on the wooden bars.
This was the time when my husband was letting her stand by herself while leaning on the wall. He was trying my daughter if she can walk by herself, but my daughter was traumatized instead.
Two things I learned from this milestone. First, each child has his/her own time. We can't force him/her but we can give some means to help them. Second, child's trust and confidence can easily be broken, so we should be careful with it.

Constipation
Constipation is not only for adult, I realized. I don't know if this condition can be inherited, if so, my daughter probably get it from me then.
Since my daughter's milk was changed, (she used to be Kapanatag, but we switched to EnfaGrow - will tell some other time the reason), she always having difficulty defecating. If you see her doing her labor, you will really pity her. She's all Red and really in pain but she don't want to be helped. This might also be the reason why she does want to poo in her potty nor in the toilet bowl. There were even times that there were traces of blood in her poops. My husband were planning to try another milk again if her this condition has no improvement.
The information I got from my What to Expect subscription is very timely. Included in my subscription is an article about about Toddler's Poop Problem. I know that my daughter is not alone in this condition. You might be on the same boat too but was not able to receive the email subscription. I am sharing this because it might help you.
==================================================
Symptoms
Constipation does not mean going a few days without pooping. The true and obvious symptom of constipation is when you child is producting small, round and hard stool. Very similar to goat's stool. Another sign that your child is blocked up is when you see your child's face scrunching, extra grunting, and having difficulty pushing that poop.
Reasons
- Your child's diet may not contain high-fiber foods.
- Your child's fluid intake is not enough.
- Or simply ignore the urge to poop.
- Serve high-fiber foods such as fresh fruits, dried fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.
- Offer four to six ounces a day of prune juice or pear juice until the problem clears up.
- Encourage your child to drink water to help soften stools.
- Go easy on high-fat foods as well as those that are high in sugar; they can be binding.
- Make sure your child is exercising regularly, even if it’s just a quick romp in the backyard or an after-dinner walk up the street. This will help get his digestive system to move things along.
- If all else fails, ask your pediatrician about giving your toddler a stool softener such as MiraLAX or Metamucil. And as a last resort, you might consider a laxative.
Word Challenge | Facebook Game
Facebook is not just a social community but also a game hub. More and more game makers are integrating their application in Facebook. Playfish is one of them.
One of the most played games in Facebook developed by Playfish is Word Challenge. This is a good game because it can be finished for only few minutes. The game is very similar with Text Twist, if you are familiar with this game. The only difference is that you get a rank every after game based on the score you get and your score is compared to your other friend's score. For more review and tip for this game, you can click here
Anyways, I do play this game once in a while, specially if I need to release some stress and I only have few minutes. I get curious on the different ranks so I do some research what are the equivalent ranks for the scores. This is what I found from their forum. Enjoy!

I... Love... You...
Every mom (or probably even dads) would love to hear their little ones hear the three magic words and I am not an exception to the rule. I would love to hear my daughter utter these words to me. I've been telling these words to her since she was born (and of course my husband too) so I am excited for her to return it to me, lol!
Actually, she can already repeat the words after we say it whenever we asked her to do so. And there are words she can already say clearly like milk, toys, book, eat, fan and many more. But she seldom completes a two-word phrase by herself. Most probably, she would completely say the first word and just the last syllable of the second word or vice versa, which ever word is easier for her to pronounce.
Going back to the three magic word, what we are doing with her is to let him repeat the word I, then she can already proceed with the remaining two words. So I was surprised last Wednesday because she was able to complete the magic words without any initiation from any one though the timing wasn't very appropriate. She yelled the words during our midweek evening service nyahahaha....
This was how it happened. She stood up in the bench where my husband, she and I were seating. She was between me and my husband and we were seating on the second row of the third column. Since our attendance during Wednesday is less than half of our Sunday population, most goers would seat in the middle column. We were only the one seating on that column for the purpose that she will not disturbed anyone during the service. When she stood up, I didn't mind her since she was not making any noise. She was just smiling and moving her hands. But not so long, she started saying I... Love... You! Her voice was in increasing tone and she was facing the other members as if she was telling them the words. I immediately put her down and whispered to her to keep quiet. Good that our pastor is already immuned with such distraction and is no longer affected. Some members were smiling at her that I feel so embarrased. But I was so happy deep inside because she can completely and clearly say "I love you."

Towel Wrap (Tapis)
Whenever I have the luxury of time, one of the things I enjoy doing with my daughter is taking a bath together. My daughter also loves this bonding session because she has a chance to play with the water longer. She also enjoys it when I pour the water on my head and she is standing in front of me. She would also instruct to me sit so she can pour the water on me. I enjoy hearing her giggling. And she would not get out of the bathroom without her tapis (towel wrap). She's only using her towelette as towel wrap.
My daughter will surely love the mint bath towel wraps in Posy Lane. They are in nine different colors and available in Adult, Teen and Children sizes. The towels can also be personalized with a name or a monogram. It will definitely be cute if we will have the same color of towel wrap, don't you think so? My daughter might want to take a bath every hour just to use the soft and attractive towel wrap :D
Not only colorful towel wraps are available in Posy Lane, but also laundry bags and
kindergarten nap mats. The laundry bag is very convenient to use because of its shoulder strap. You can bring your dirty clothes nicely and neatly using this laundry bag. The laundry bags match the colors of the towel wrap, so you can combine them to create as a perfect gift package.
The kindergarten nap mats are really adorable. If I have the budget, I will get one for my daughter. The mats are lined with nylons and padded with cotton which made them comfortable for kids. Each mat is complete with a soft fleece blanket and soft pillow. It can also be rolled-up then closed with Velcro closure and carried using the carrying strap. Very convenient and space saver, isn't?
If you are tired of giving usual gift and wish to give something new, you can head to posylane.com for more fun and uplifting gifts.

Momments? Moments??
I've been participating in Mommy Moments for quite sometimes now and for all those times, my spelling of moment is wrong, lol! I only discovered it this morning. And nobody had the guts to correct me huh?! Just kidding hehehe... I don't know who among you noticed the misspelled word but were just to shy to inform me. Anyway, going forward, I will be using Moments and not Momments. I changed all the labels of the mommy moments entry but it will be very tedious for me to replace all the titles with the correct spelling. Could you do me favor? Could you just ignore misspelled word :D and forgive my negligence :D That is the result of sleepless nights hahaha....
If you see something wrong with my grammar or spelling, please don't hesitate to let me know. I will be very happy to stand corrected.
Night!

Mommy Moments - Playing Time
Today's theme for Mommy Moments is Playing Time. I guess, all kids love to play. Although, they might have different preferences on the type of game to play, the fact remains that they still enjoy playing. And I believe that this is something that no single child must be deprived of whatever the circumstances maybe. This is every child's right.
Playing is not just for fun though this is the primary and most obvious reason. Playing also helps a child to develop and improve his/her locomotor skills. And if there is a chance to interact with other kids while playing, this is a good opportunity to develop the child's interpersonal skills.
For my daughter, we encourage her to enjoy some outdoor activities because she walked a bit late. If the weather is good, we bring her out in the morning for a walk and in the afternoon, we bring her to the playground. And since, there are other kids in the playground, she get the chance to interact with other kids. During holidays, we also bring her somewhere to her expose her to other places.
These pictures were taken at Toy Kingdom Megamall.
Early this year, when I passed by this store going home from work, I noticed that the store was exhibiting these kinds of recreational equipments for toddlers. I knew that I can't afford to buy these for my daughter. So when I reached home I shared this with my husband and we planned to bring our daughter there the next time I report to office for her to experience these kind of equipments. Good thing was, the sales personnel allowed the kids to play with the equipments. And my daughter really had a great time playing with these giant toys for free.
The following photos were taken at Rizal Park last June 12
My daughter was enjoying the grass on the spacious ground :D
The playground is at the back of the Grand stand. When facing the Ocean Park, it is on the right most part. The playground is very suitable for kids because the flooring is made of rubber. Again, this is also free :)
Who says we need money to make our little ones happy? There are still many free things that would make our children happy. Let's maximize them :D

A More Beautiful Morning
Every morning, every time I woke up, the first thing I do is to thank God for keeping me safe the whole night and giving me another day to sojourn in this world. I also pray for guidance and wisdom for the entire day so I can accomplish the things that He wants me to accomplish.
But there is one thing that makes my morning more beautiful, it beats the bright sun or the dazzling rain in the morning. It makes my morning complete. It is none other than my daughter's smile whenever she woke up in the morning. It brings joy whenever I see my daughter smile. She can turn my world upside down by her smile. It is very unusual for my daughter to cry whenever she woke up. Only when she is sick or her sleep is disturbed. Other than those circumstances,I can always expect a smile when she wakes up.

CAPTCHA Problem
For days now, I am wondering why I do not receive any comment from other moms, saved Mommy Chris and Mommy Tetcha. I started to think if I did or posted something which offended other moms. I requested Dothy of Dothy's World to visit my blog and checked if she encountered any error. But there was none. We failed to test the comment-posting process. Unfortunately, the problem was there. When I tested it, the Captcha was not displaying properly and the textbox which captures the user's input was not displayed. So nobody can post a comment. To fix of this problem, change the comment setting to Full Page or Pop-up.
I greatly appreciate Mommy Pehpot's of Make and Break effort to inform me about the problem. She's been trying to reach me but she cannot think a way until she remembered my disclosure policy where my email address is included. She's ver witty indeed. Even I wouldn't be able to think that immediately considering my site is very conservative when it comes to disclosure of personal identification. Mommy Pehpot, many many thanks from the bottom of my heart. I am very thankful to have a blogosphere friend like you.

Dinner with High School Friends
I had a wonderful Sunday night. Aside from the wonderful worship service message I heard about possessing God's promises, I had a dinner with my high school friends at Conti's Trinoma. I was not able to take some pictures because it was an unplanned event and I was not able to bring my camera.
Okay, first thing first. Saturday evening, around 11 pm, an unregistered number is calling my phone. When I answered it, I heard an unexpected but familiar voice. I was really surprised and happy. It was my high school classmate and friend who is now based in US. She just came back last Friday and was asking if we could the next day with our other friend. I don't usually go out on a Sunday because of church activities so I told her that I will just follow. They can meet earlier and will join them after our evening service. I realized that I missed her for the years that she was not here and I was excited to meet her again.
Last night, around 7:30 pm, after our evening worship service, I headed to Trinoma. I can't convinced my husband to go with me so I have no choice but to leave my daughter with him and meet my friends alone. According to him, he was shy to meet my friends. Although, I want my friends to see him and our daughter, I didn't obliged him to go with me. I respect his decision.
Because of traffic, the supposedly ten-minute travel became an hour. Hay... I was already excited that I kept on moving on my seat, lol! The cab driver might be thinking that I was having a diarrhea.
Finally, I met my long-time-no-see friends. Actually, it was not only my balikbayan friend that I seldom see, but also my other friends because I really seldom go out. We were only four last night. There was one who could not make because she brought home some work and need to finish them. But nonetheless, the dinner turned-out great. We get updated on each other's lives and it is wonderful to know that all of them are doing good. Although, my balikbayan friend experienced some family-related problems on her first few years in US, it is good to know that she is now OK The other two is also doing great on their own field. It is good to know that now, I have a friend who is a doctor, a bank officer, and a nurse. Our alma mater, Quezon City Scienc e High School, played a big part on our careers now. I wonder about our other classmates and batchmates. How are they after fourteen years?
Aside from the great chit-chat, we also had a great dinner. The food served in Conti's were great. It was my first time there. I order the Chicken Roulade and I was very satisfied with it. We also order Mango Salad and Cheese Pop for appetizer and Mango Bravo for dessert. I was really full when we decided say goodbye. We planned to meet again before our balikbayan friend return to US.

Mommy Momments - Pouty Face
Mommy Momments once again. Today's theme is Pouting Face. According to YourDictionary.com, pouty means protruding: said of the lips. Here is my entry for this week's Mommy Momments.
My daughter loves to pout her lips ever since. This is her father's influence to her :D
Love to see more pouty faces? Please head to The Mommy Journey Mommy Momments.
Received My First Payment for My First Paid Post
This morning, when I opened my email, I noticed that there were two mails which came from PayPerPost. I immediately read the first and I was so happy to know that it was a notification stating that the payment for the post I made was already sent to PayPal. I hurriedly logged on to my PayPal account and there it was, my first ever earning from blogging, lol! The amount is really very small, but the important thing is, I proved to myself that PayPerPost is real and not just a hoax company. I hope that I can get more opps in the coming days :D

Clarification From Malacañang
Malacañang retracted their first statement that July 27 is a non-working holiday in celebration of INC day. You can check the link shared by Mommy Chris for more details. July 27 is a working holiday according to Malacañang. Was it an honest mistake?
Don't get me wrong. I have nothing against INC members personally. What I am really after at is the reason behind. We have so many holidays actually and I will be a hypocrite if I will tell you that I do not enjoy them. Of course, holiday is another whole day for me to bond with my daughter and be with my husband mentally and physically. Aside from that, I will still be paid though I don't need to work. For others who are required to report to work during holidays, they will have additional pay. But how about those who are belongs to the no-work-no-pay group? Will they be also happy on this kind of adhoc holidays? I don't think so.
Holiday (non-working) is good and I surely love it for personal reasons but I don't think it is acceptable to use it as bribe for more votes. Let us be wise like a serpent but harmless as a dove. Let us not be deceived by delectable gourmet that will poison our bodies and mind.

July 27 Declared as Non-Working Holiday
Just this morning, my former office mate pinged me in YM the link of the article in inquirer.net stating that July 27 was declared as "INC Day" a non-working holiday. I am wondering why? Is it only because our president is fond of holidays or is there any deeper reason for this? She cannot claim that this is because majority of the Filipinos are members of INC because definitely, it's not. She's not even an INC. Is there another political agenda for this considering that this group claims that all their members unanimously vote for the candidates chosen by their leaders? If the government gave INC a national holiday, all other sect should also be given the same privilege. Don't you think so? There should also be a Catholic Day, JIL Day, Baptist Day, Pentecostal Day and other religious group Day!
Our constitution is clear about the separation of state and church but in the last elections , I observed that many politicians were using religious groups just to win a post. Just like my daughter's expression for dirt, "EWE". Politicians are getting desparate and more desparate for power, wealth and popularity that they don't mind to use whomever they can use just to win. I just hope that religious groups will not be deceived by their flowery words.
Let us pray for an upright, god-fearing and courageous men and women who will serve our country.

Disappointed with my 1st ArtsCow Project
My first order with ArtsCow.com has arrived. Actually, only a notification from Central Post Office was delivered to our place. I had to pick up the parcel from the Post Office.
It's an 8x8 hard cover photo book. I ordered it last June 80. I used the photos taken during my wedding two-years ago. Unfortunately, my expectation was not really met. Maybe I was expecting too much. I am not satisfied with the actual print out. The print out didn't get the actual colors and the images were liked polarized. If it is because of the resolution of the pictures, I really don't know. The preview of the photo book is great but the actual product is unsatisfactory. The materials used for the pages is nice and the way it was shipped is commendable because the ArtsCow ensures that the item cannot be folded.
For me to find out if this is a picture resolution problem, I will wait for another photo book promo (hope they still have one), and will try another set of photos. This time, I will prepare and use my daughter's pictures with high-resolution just to make sure if the output is still not good, it is not an image resolution problem.

Dressing Up Filipino 101, Missed Mommy Momments
Wondering why I am not so visible nowadays? Hmm, I am busy dressing-up my other blog, the e-filipino101. I neglected that site too much. Since the school year started, I noticed that the site is getting more visitors everyday. As a matter of fact, e-filipino101 has more daily visitors than this blog although I seldom have the time to update that blog. Maybe because many students were looking for resource materials for Filipino.
I think I owe that blog a more decent dress... (forgive me if you disagree hehehe). The template need more finishing touches but almost done.
Mommy Chris, please forgive dear, co'z I won't still be able to join the Mommy Momments :( as much as I want to. I have no picture of myself, my husband, nor my daughter that is appropriate with the theme. I will try my best to join the next week's theme.
For those who already grabbed my badge, my sincere thanks. I also hope that you will not remove my badge. I am planning to setup an exclusive page for the badges alone. I promise to grab your badges too once I setup this badge page. Just hold on please...

Fussy Baby
Since Sunday night, my daughter has been crying from time to time because of what she feels. But good that she can easily be pacified. Unlike a colic baby, that no matter what you do, the baby wouldn't just stopped crying.
Speaking of colic baby, this is sometimes irritating and frustrating for parents at times but normal to some babies. I remember the complaint of my church mate when she gave birth to her first baby. Her baby would cry for hours no matter what she do to pacify her . Her sister-in-law, (who grew up in the province) put some ginger, onion and garlic on the baby's navel telling her that this how they do it in their province to treat the fussy baby. Unfortunately, this action caused infection on the baby's navel and the baby was confined to the hospital. They spent more than a hundred thousand for the medication and treatment because the infection almost reached the baby's brain.
How I wish I already knew Colic Calm.com that time so I can share it with my church mate. This site provides information about colic remedies and how to treat baby acid correctly. The hospitalization expense and the infection should have been avoided.
For sure, there are other mommies who might have a colic or fussy baby. You may check Colic Calm for more information.

July 2: Pasig City Day - Declared Special Non-Working Holiday
Our admin staff sent an email stating that July 2, Thursday, is a non-working Holiday for us in celebration of Pasig Day. This is a good time to rest after being stressed with my daughter's coughs and colds. I have two less- sleep nights and and still need to work in the day time. I feel so tired.
July 2 is a very timing day-off. I hope my daughter will continue to get better so I can have that day as a rest day.
