Online Mommy Revamp

I am planning to redesign my site to make it more personal. I will be looking for free blog templates and tutorials on how to cutomize the look and feel of the my blogspot. Any suggestion is very much welcome and appreciated.

Potty Training

My daughter just turned 22 months last Sunday. At her age, I think she should start learning how to use her potty. I will be doing some research on what is the easiest but effective way to train her. Not only because of the expense I incurred everytime I buy a new pack of diaper but most importantly, disposable diapers add to the tons of non-biodegradable waste in our country. If I am not a working mom, I prefer to use cloth-diaper . But because I need to work, I have to cling to the convenience brought by disposable diapers. But now that she is growing up, we can at least start try to get rid of using disposable diapers.
Please let me know if you have some advise or tips on potty-training. I would appreciate it.
Thanks in advance.

Thank God It's Friday

Thank God It's Friday! I am one of those who waits for this day. Friday means more sleeping hour for me, a day of fun and play with my daughter tomorrow, bonding-time with my husband and a reminder that the Lord's day is just a day ahead.

How about you, what does Friday means to you?

In the Beginning

My officemate Dotty (the owner of IT Mommy ) encourage me to do blogging to earn extra income. She taught me the basic of blogging,(how to create a blog, how to configure the adsense, how to c customize the blog & etc.) and still helping me until now with my inquiries. I started with my initial blogsite, without any idea what would click in the market. Since she is doing a tv show series streaming, I tried to do Movie Previews hoping that it would be a hit in the market. But after a few posts, I already started to get disappointed. No body visits myblog , thus, I haven't earned a single cent (that remains true until now ) She advised me to join different blog directories. So I did. And little by little, by the help fo Feedjit, I noticed that there is an improvement. In a day, my blog would have a visitor or two. So I continued blogging. Since I am not really fond of watching movies (well, I've already overcome it), I decided to create a new blog that is of my interest. Since I am very fond of memorizing bible verses, I started the My Daily Memory Verse. It has a regular visitor who is coming every day from Wales (not really sure if this is the same person though ) That already made me happy and encouraged to post everyday. But I got busy with my job that I can't find time to post a verse and an insight for few days. That regular visitor stopped coming back after three or four times coming back without seeing new updates. Back to zero again. But since I am already enjoying posting verses, I keep on posting bible verses.
After more or less a month, I decided to create another blog, the Filipino 101. Since I am doing some research in preparing my lesson for my voluntary work in our Bible Seminary as a Filipino instructor, I might as well share the lessons to others who might be also doing research on Filipino subjects. My decision to create this blog was confirmed by my experience that the source materials for Filipino is limited over the net and it is quite hard to find these materials.
And now, though the fact remains that I haven't earned any monetary value from blogging (and blogging is not a good source of extra income ), I do not regret joining the club. I get some enjoyment making friends online through requesting other bloggers (especially mom's like me) to link my sites. And surprisingly, there are many kind bloggers who wouldn't hesitate to add my links. To name a few are Mommy R of Pinay Mommy Online, Life and Scrap, and Lourdes' Mia, Mommy Shiela of A Blessed Life, pinay mama of A Momma's Journal, and of course my dear officemate and friend, Mommy Dotty of IT Mommy.
May we have a fruitful blogging life

System Admin Tasks for Senior Developer Role

My call with our client has just finished. We discussed the problem I encountered while I was trying to setup their client's storage array... Believe me, I have no experience on this and I am really surprised when my contact told me that we will be the one to setup the storage array...
Well, as a Senior Developer, I am expected to handle the tasks graciously though I have no previous experience on this area. Yes, I am a Senior Developer in C# and ASP.NET but I have no experience doing System Administration tasks. But I take it as a challenge. I love to learn new things. And whenever I gain new skills, for me it is already a success...
<

I am also happy that my contact in US is really kind and not so demanding. He understands my position and I am happy to co-work with him. I am also blessed that he is also a Christian, an active one. He is a minister in their church and he is also the one assigned to lead their choir practices. I am blessed to work with other Christian in the other side of the world.

.NET and MS SQL Server Interview Questions

I blogged a while ago about the technical interview I had this morning. I decided to post the questions which were asked to me (only those question which I can remember). If you know the answer to any of the question, please feel free to post it as comment. I will greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

Btw, the questions are more on C# and SQL Server.

1. What is the difference between the Server transfer and Response Redirect?

2. What is the difference between overloading and overriding?

3. What are delegates?

4. What are generics?

5. What are the accessiblity modifiers and their scope?

6. If we want to access the values on the source form, where can we store it?

7. Does javascript supports object-oriented programming?

8. What does HTTP and HTTPS stand for?

9. What is the default port of HTTP? of HTTPS?

10. How to prevent sql injection?

11. What is WCP?

12. What is the advantages of using ADO.NET in .NET 2.0

13. What is the new feature of .NET 3.5?

Getting Behind

Before I reported to work this morning, I entertained an interview invitation of a company not so far from our office. I am not actively looking for a new job because I know that transferring to a new company these days is really risky. But I entertained the initial technical interview for two reasons. First, the location is not far from our office and I won't lose anything if I drop by. Secondly, I entertain job interviews just to assess if my skill is still marketable. Sad to say, after staying in my current company for two years, my market value freeze :( and my skill becomes stagnant.
Before I join this company, I am confident that I am well marketable because of the trainings and experiences I gained from my previous company. But now, in just two years, I am way behind the technology. I was asked of many questions which I am not familiar with huhuhu... I am pretty sure that the my application with that company will end there.
Though disappointed, I still look on the brighter side. God allowed me to accept that interview to let me know that I am already behind in terms of technology information and skills and I have to do something to improve that. At least, I get some idea what to study during my free time and be prepared for the next interview that may come in the future. I don't also have to depend on the trainings and projects given to me by my company. I have to exert some effort to continuously improve and update my skills.
