Overweight

During my lunch break, I went out to buy my daughter medicine for her colds and cough. Yes, my daughter has a colds and cough again. A month has not passed yet when she had her last colds and cough. And it is no fun when our child is sick, right?

Anyways, after paying the med, I noticed that nobody was using the machine installed in Mercury outlets for measuring the weight and height(I forgot the name of the machine). I also have a five-peso coin so I decided to get my measurement.

After measuring all the factors need to be measure, the result was printed-out. The result indicated that the ideal weight for my height is only 55.3 Kg but I am 61.6 kg to my dismay. I am overweight by 6.3 kg. I am not loosing weight, instead, I am still gaining more pounds...( and not just pounds, but kilos)

This is quite alarming and badly needs attention on my end. If the continue gaining weight, I will end up obese and being obese, I will be facing more health complications. Although, very seldom we include pork in our meals, my rice intake is the culprit. I eat too much rice....

But before it is too late, I need to gain the determination to limit my rice intake. Otherwise, instead of taking care of my daughter, I might be the one she'll be taking care of.

More Touch of Adsense

Ever since I implemented a new template for this blog site, I haven't returned my AdSense unit yet, only this day.

I am not supposed to go online today because tomorrow is Sunday and I need to prepare for the Lord's day. But since we had an early dinner and hubby is in the mood to read some stories for our dear princess before she sleeps, I have a little time to return my AdSense. Although, my earnings from AdSenseis not that significant yet, it is still an additional income if accumulated :)

I am really sorry I cannot blog hop at the momment, my time is so limited. I will be online on Monday for sure and I will have time to visit your posts.

I have to go now. Have a great weekend to all. God speed!

Busy with Badge

For the last few days, I was doing some research on how to do the badge especially the image of the lady (as I commented on Mommy Journey's post entitled Badges). Last night, when I slept, I couldn't still see any hope that I'll be able to create one for me.

This morning when I woke up, I've decided to make my badge without that kind of image. I will settle for simple images. But God is good to me. When I typed in my Google search toolbar the keywords "mommy clip art", the result was really overwhelming. There were so many images which can be used for the badge for free. Even the images that I've been searching for days were included in the result. Excited as I am, I've downloaded all the images for future use. I was not only able to create my own badge, but also my friend's badge. I always want to share want I learned with others :)

I am really happy because I have my own badge now. I can already exchange badges with other moms. Please feel free to grab my badge by copying the code beside the badge. If you do, please leave me a note so I can return your kindness.

My next goal is to create my own signature... Way to go in my blogging adventure hehehe...

Hit vs. Kiss

When my daughter started to walk (which was a bit late) and started to explore our very small rented-house, she bumped to the wall, corners or table or other stuffs in our house from time to time. At first, I really get worried and I am the one who almost cried whenever she was hurt. To pacify her, I would ask her to hit the wall or the table or the object which caused the pain. I know that I am not the only one doing this. I've seen several moms doing this on their toddlers. Later on, whenever she would bump to any object and get hurt, she would hit that object.

God made me realized that this is not right. That I am teaching my daughter some kind of revenge . Although, the object she is hitting is non-living, the idea that she can hit the one that hurt her might be instilled in her mind and she might think that hitting others is okay. In doing this, I am not teaching my daughter to be obedient with the Word of God which states that "Vengeance belongeth unto God."

So I change my tactic. Now whenever my daughter bumped to an object, I would ask her to kiss the object and touch the object softly. This is kind of weird for others but I want to instill in my daughter's mind that she should love those who hurt her. I find it effective with my daughter. I also realized that there are inevitable pains that I should allow my daughter to experience.

Red is Go?

Last Friday night, my husband, Jaypee, me and Ska headed to Cherry Foodarama Congressional to buy some grocery items, toiletries, and Ska's milk. On our way home, we took a cab. We were approaching an intersection when the traffic light turned red. Jaypee and l were surprised when my daughter recognized that Red traffic light signifies stop. She uttered the word stop and pointed at the traffic light. We agreed with her and we told her that she was very good. We were surprised because we haven't teach her yet about the traffic light colors. I think she learned it from the sign language show that I downloaded for her.

Unfortunately, the cab driver seemed to be in hurry and didn't bother to wait for the traffic light to turn green before crossing the intersection. Good that my husband was quick. He was able to distract my daughter's attention by pointing to the other traffic light which was green that time and told her it was GO. I was disappointed with the driver. He was not setting a good example as an adult. For sure, if my daughter can already ask a question, we will be doing a lot of explanation to her.

This experience reminded me of the old tv ad which had a slogan something like "Ang ginagawa ng matanda, nagiging tama sa paningin ng bata."

Potty Training Update #2

Ska's potty training is still on going but with a big improvement. She no longer use diaper during day time for weeks now (big savings for me :)), except when we go out. There are still accidents but not as often as before. Before she would only say wee wee after she'd pee on the floor but now there are times that she would already call our attention if she need to pee, just like today. She approached me while I was cooking for our lunch because she needed to pee. Then, while we were eating, she approached our helper, because she wanted to poo. And surprisingly, she poo without any struggle. She usually cried when she wants to poo because she does not want to do it on the toilet bowl nor on her potty. I don't know the reason but she seems afraid of the bowl and the potty. Maybe because she is always constipated since we changed her milk.

I almost surrendered with this potty - training. We tried several approach to help her feel more comfortable when laboring(that is how we call it when she is defecating. As if she is delivering a child, lol!) The first approach I tried was I allowed her to sit on her potty with her undies and diaper. She would only sit for a few second then she would just play with her potty. I also tried to carry her on the sitting position while I was sitting on the cover of the bowl and place the potty on the floor, but no success! She would struggle with me for me to put her down. We would give her some toy or play with some bubbles to pacify her. But this approach came to an end. It came to a point that even we gave her some toys, she would continue with the struggle. I was already thinking that she's not yet ready for the training. For a while, I allowed her to do it by her own.

For the pee session, we usually bring her to the comfort room, few minutes after she woke up from her nap, after she drunk her milk or water or after 30 minutes to 1 hour after her last pee. We applauded her whenever she made it to the CR. And since we were doing this consistently, she got the idea that she is being applauded whenever she made it to the CR. Now, she's the one initiating the applause right after she peed.

Since I noticed that she wants to do the defecating standing, I tried to let her stand on the toilet seat facing me or the anyone who is holding her. This position is effective for her. Since we tried this position, she would not hesitate to approach us when she need to poo and the struggle is eliminated.

Next step is to train her sit on the toilet seat. It is along process but I am confident that she will be able to make it.

No Contentment ... Yay!

It was only recently when I changed my template. And now, I applied a new template. No contentment... huh? Actually, I really planned to change my template because the text of my posts were missing when you scroll the browser. But no plan to replace it immediately since I am busy with other things (RC, Paid Post hunting). I was visiting one of the mommy momments participants when I got fascinated with her template. I checked the maker and I accidentally browse this template. I find it clean and simply beautiful so I tried to apply it a couple hours ago just to test if it can be applied easily. And it is. Now, I am keeping this template (don't know until when hihihi). Isn't the template is clean and the posts are more readable? This template has a built-in read more function too. I hope you also like it and would make your visit more enjoyable.

See you around! Have a blessed weekend to all.

Much Awaited Meme - Mommy Momments

Friday is my most awaited day for blogging. Because I am excited to see other moms' entries for Mommy Momments. Through this meme, I get to know other moms all over the Philippines, and even outside the Philippines. I may not be able see them face to face. But through their blogs, I get to know their opinions, views in life, style of living, beliefs, and many other things that I can create an image of them in my mind. Also, through this meme, I get to know other Christian moms in other places and learn some insights from their posts. And for me, this kind of opportunity is God's blessing to me.

For moms who visit my site and share their comments with me, accept my deepest thanks. I really appreciated your effort and time to visit my link. And thank you for being a channel of blessing to me.

Mommy Momments - That's My Dad!

mommy moments

That's my hubby and my daughter's father!

I thank God for giving me a partner in life who loves God more than he loves me and my daughter. And that who is more after the Lord's work than his own career growth and personal desires. I am also thankful that though my husband is not perfect and has his own flaws, he is willing to be mold of God and be the man that God wants him to be. I am also blessed that my husband helps me in taking care of my daughter and doing some household chores. Sometimes, he can do the chores better than I can do it.

I Am In Love With A Vampire

Since we got married and started sleeping on one bed, I discovered that my husband is a sleep-talker. He mumbled words during his sleeping time. Sometimes, I even tease him by asking him some questions and believe it or not, he can answer some of the questions correctly.

I am not also surprised when I discovered that my daughter do the same thing when she sleeps. There were times that they (my husband and daughter) seem talking to each other while they were sleeping. Thanks to staying up late at night that I really enjoyed these momments. Maybe next time I will record their conversation and let them hear it when they wake up.

Last night was totally a different thing. In the wee hours of the night, I was awaken by the sudden pain I felt on my flubby arms :D My husband was also awaken when I muttered pain. He immediately turned on the lights and checked my arms. The traces of his teeth were quite deep. He was really worried and kept on apologizing. He told me that he was dreaming that he was biting something and he didn't realize that he was actually biting my arms. I almost got mad at him but the good thing was I came to my senses immediately. Anger would not make the pain subside nor the wounds healed. Instead of getting mad, I just teased him. I told him that maybe my arms are really big that he thought it was a pork :D

Web Hosting Hunt

Recently, I read about a co-mommy blogger’s entry about her desire to have a separate website for her realty-state part-time work. As a web application developer, I offered my help. We were discussing about hosting and domain and she was a bit confused of the terms. Of course, I understand her perfectly because web development is not her cup of tea and probably, I also added some confusion because I was not able to explain the concepts in lay man’s term. Aside from that, we were only discussing via an instant messenger.

She mentioned to me that her budget is limited and she is looking for the cheapest web hosting possible. So next time I get a chance to talk to her, I will recommend Web Hosting Geeks to her. This is an independent site which conducts reviews of the best hosting providers. The site provides a table of the top ten best web hosts for this year including their corresponding features and bonus features. The table also contains a link to the review of the web hosting provider and the corresponding rate given to them. I will also recommend to her the Best Budget Web Hosting which is possibly fitted for her budget.
If you are also in a hunt for a web hosting provider, I strongly recommend that you visit Web Hosting Geeks first before you opt for a web hosting provider. The site will help you decide which provider is appropriate for your need because the facts about the providers are well-presented in the site. And if you are new to web hosting and you want to learn the basics about this technology, you may visit their Web Hosting 101 under the Web Hosting Geek’s Blog section. And if you are after VPS (Virtual Private Server) Hosting, you may also check the site’s Best VPS Hosting. So you see, Web Hosting Geeks caters information about web hosting from novice to amateur users.
So if you want to get the best, compare first with the rest.

An Independence Attack!

Yesterday, since it was a non-working holiday, my husband and I brought our daughter to Rizal Park commonly known as Luneta. Our original plan was to brought our daughter to Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife (I thought it's National Parks and Wildlife, silly me! hehehe) for her to see the real animals she can identify in her posters and dvds (especially, monkeys like boots in Dora the Explorer) then proceed to Quezon City Memorial Circle for some strolling and biking.

But my daughter took her nap a bit longer and we were afraid that we may not be able make it to the Parks and Wildlife since it would close at around 5 or 6 PM. So we decided to visit Luneta instead since my daughter was never been there and the last time I visited the park was three years ago (if my memory do not fail me).

My husband and I both failed to anticipate that there might be some program being held there in the celebration of the Independence Day. We only realized it when we reached the place. But we were thankful that the park was not that crowded and we could still roam around.

After riding off from the cab (we don't have our own car :D), we headed to the area where there were fountains. We took some pictures of course. Suddenly, in just a nick of time that we took our eyes off my daughter, a litte boy, probably just few months older than our daughter, attacked our daughter. We just saw him bitting my daughter's head while tightly holding my daughter's face. I was really shocked and I immediately pulled my daughter away and carried her but I made sure that I would not make the damage bigger. The companions of the boy took the boy as well (they are farther from us) and just uttered, "nanggigil na naman." My daughter was too afraid to cry :( (I was the one who almost cried). She just bore her face on my shoulder and hugged me so tight. My husband checked her head and her face. There were three long scratches on her left cheek and another small one on her brow. Thank God that the scratches were not deep.

One of the companion of the boy said sorry but no one among them (they were three) checked the damage their boy had done to my daughter. I did not even heard them reprimanded the boy nor told the boy that what he did was wrong.

We just left the area and find another place. Maybe my daughter was just too happy to be in a new place and see fountains that she immediately forgot what happened. After a while, she already managed to walk again and utter her usual words. But she was not in the mood for pictures.

My husband was teasing my daughter that she should bite the boy also but I told my daughter that she should love the boy because the Bible says "Love your enemy." Of course, my husband was just teasing my daughter to lighten her mood.

How about you, what would you do if you were in my place? Or if you were the companion of the boy? How would you let the boy realize that his action was wrong?

Mommy Momments - Outdoor Fun

mommy moments

Near our place is a playground, it is actually the baranggay playground. We (with my hubby) usually bring our daughter there to practice her locomotor skills. Before, she was a bit afraid to play but recently, she can manage to use the bigger slide, but of course with supervision. She would always want to use the swing but there are only two swings available and most of the time they were already occupied.

I also include her first outdooor fun outside the metro, although I am not sure if she really enjoyed :D

Would you like to share you outdoor fun? Visit Mommy Momments @ The Mommy Journey

My First Ever Approved Paid Post

This is great morning indeed! As stated on the title of this post, my entry for a paid post has been approved. This is the second time I tried to submit an entry. The first one was rejected. The reason given to me was I have no site wide disclosure policy. I really feel disappointed because the price of the post was only $0.5 and yet it was still rejected. I didn't do anything to correct the reason. And I didn't logged on to the site for a while. I was already hesitant to continue this kind of sideline. I was already thinking that my english skill is not really acceptable and this kind of work is not for me.

After I got a Google page rank of 1, out of idleness, I visited the site again. And I am glad I did. During my visit few days ago, I was already qualified to several opportunities. Unlike before that I only had one or two. I decided to give it a try again and chose the one that I can describe well. The adage "Try and try until you succeed" holds true this time. After a second try, my entry was approved and I am so happy. Thanks and all glory belongs to my God.

Seeing Possibilities

Devotional Scripture : Habakkuk 2:3 (King James Version)
For the vision is yet for an appointed time... It will surely come, it will not tarry.

Robert Chesebrough had a product in which he believed wholeheartedly. In fact, it was his own invention. Chesebrough had transformed the ooze that forms on shafts of oil rigs--rod wax--into a petroleum jelly that he personally found to have great healing properties. He believed so much in the healing aspects of his creation that he became his own "experimental subject." To demonstrate the benefits of his product for others, Chesebrough burned himself with acid and flame, and cut and scratched himself so often and so deeply that he bore scars of his tests for his entire life.

Nevertheless, Chesebrough proved his point and people were convinced. They only had to look at Chesebrough's wounds and how they healed to see the value of his product, which still is an international bestseller. We know it as Vaseline.

What do you see as a possibility today? Do you believe enough in its potential to help others that you are willing to invest your time, energy, resources, and hope into developing it?

The future belongs to those who see possibilities before they become obvious.

Household Tip: Soap Optimization

Did you noticed that we can't use our soaps to the fullest?(whether bath or laundry soap, as long as it is in bar form) There will always be some remnants that most of the times are really annoying because they mess our bathrooms. I will share with you how to use the soap to the last piece. This will not only help you prevent the mess but also maximize your soap to the fullest.

1. Watch out for the right time. If you think the soap will already break if you still use it, this is the perfect time. Don't wait for the soap to break.
2. Before you enter your bathroom for your bath, bring your new soap.
3. Use your new soap in bathing to make the soap wet.
4. Just before you finish your bath, get the old soap. Put the new soap and old soap back-to-back and apply some pressure to make them stick together.
5. Presto! No waste. You will be able to use the old soap with the new one until the old soap is consumed.

This is ready for your next use. You just need to be a little careful at first to prevent the soaps from separating, but as you use them, you will notice that they will become one and become inseparable.

Have you ever heard about Satellite TV?

My curiousity as an eager-learner was piqued when I heard about Satellite TV. And because I faced the computer for more than eight hours a day, five days a week, finding out information about it was made easier for me . So as soon as I heard it, I opened a new browser and ask Mr. Google what is a Satellite TV. According to Mr. Google, this is the hottest and latest technology in tv broadcasting,(not really new since it started way back early in early 1990s but new to me because I only heard it recently), the successor of cable tv.

According to Wikipedia, this is a television delivered by the means of communication satellite and received by a satellite dish and set-top box. So, this is the purpose of the disks I usually see on the roofs of the houses when I traveled to provinces.

As I continue to research about Satellite TV, I discovered that there are two major providers of Satellite TV, Direct TV and Dish Network. Both providers offer Digital Quality, Free Equipment and Free Installation. If you need to go into the detail before coming up with a best choice, visit Kaptain Satellite. This is a good site which provides updated facts on latest promotions, news and comments about the two satellite providers. Kaptain Satellite reviews, compares, and contrasts the packages, pricing, equipment and programming offerings from Dish Networks and Direct TV.
If you have LCD or plasma TV at home or cable providers are not available in town, satellite tv is the best alternative. And better check Kaptain Satellite first to avail the best package.

Monday Memory Verse: Proverbs 3:5-6

It is a great thing to start the week with the Word of God. The Word of God exhorts, teaches and corrects us. The Word of God is also full of promises which we can claim whenever we need them. In this, I would like to encourage you to memorize simple verses from the Bible that would nourish your spiritual being. You can also share this verse with your kids or you can also share your favorite verses and share a little insight what makes the verse special to you.

It is easy to say that we trust God, but in reality, we always doubt God's capability to rule our life. He is the last that we remember when our lives our okay but the first to blame when we are in chaos. God does not ask for our half-hearted faith instead He is asking us to fully trust Him and do not depend our own strenght and ability. And if we do this, He will lead us to the path that He prepared for us.

May you have a great week ahead of you.

Doctor, Doctor, I am sick again?

My daughter is sick again, maybe because of the weather. She has colds & fever. Almost the same time last year, just after her first birthday, she got sick also. That was the time that her cough didn't leave her for so many months and we jumped from one pedia to another.

But today, I am thankful that her body can manage to cope up with her sickness. She's still a bit irritated but there is a big improvement now. She can still play, eat and drink her milk even she's sick. Unlike before that her body was really weak and she do not want to be carried by anyone else but me. I am praying her sickness will not last for long and will not result to complications.

Favorite Blog Award

Thank you Mommy Ench for this award. I really appreciate it :)

I also love visiting your blog so I am passing this back to you and to other blogs that I frequently visit:
